KOTA KINABALU, 16 March 2006: Telekom Malaysia Berhad chief operating officer (retail) Dato Adnan Rofiee has assured that telecommunications infrastructure at the soon to be completed 1 Borneo Hypermall will be provided without any delay.
Such communication facilities will definitely be beneficial to all shop owners and tenants and at the same time will give more reasons for potential businessmen, corporate institutions and investors both local and foreigners to invest in the multi-million ringgit shopping project .
In making the assurance after the official handing over of a letter of award ceremony between Sagajuta (Sabah) Sdn Bhd and Telekom Malaysia Bhd at Le Meridien Hotel here yesterday, he said with the sealing of the smart partnership, the company is more than capable of providing the RM2.4 million worth of telecommunication infrastructure on time.
Among the infrastructure to be installed in the project are closed-circuit television linked to a broadband network for surveillance and other broadband related services like voice and data.
Also included in the infrastructure is sufficient coverage of the cellular network provided by TM subsidiary Celcom (M) Bhd, Adnan said.
In the future when the 3G (third generation) mobile telecommunication services are extended in Sabah, TM would ensure availability of the latest network coverage in the project, he told reporters after the signing of the contract.
Adnan said in terms of technology, Telekom Malaysia would not differentiate its customers, bringing the latest line of products enjoyed by its customers in Kuala Lumpur or the Multimedia Super Corridor to Sabah.
“With the assurance of having timely communication facilities, I’m very sure that future or potential shop and building owners will not have any second thoughts in investing in 1 Borneo. Those who wish to do business in 1 Borneo will not hesitate to do so with the availability of extensive telecommunication services,” he said.
“At the same time, Telekom Malaysia will ensure that all services under its group such as cellular/mobile services of 019 and 013 will be made available with sufficient coverage in the area,” he added.

Sagajuta managing director Raymond Chan said TM was chosen because it has the expertise and financial capability to complete the job and the company has faith in the telecommunication giant to handle infrastructure work in its other projects.
He said at the moment, the foundation work of the RM1.0 billion mall located on Jalan Sulaman here which integrates shopping, dining and leisure experience has been completed and the building is expected to be ready by end of 2007.
At the signing, TM was represented by Adnan and TM Sabah general manager (retail) Zaini Diman and Sagajuta by Chan and the company’s technical director Peter Foo.
Earlier, Adnan thanked Sagajuta for entrusting Telekom Malaysia with the responsibility of providing the said telecommunication facilities in the project. The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with TM’s Industrial Business Solutions Seminar for the commercial sector.

With 1.5 million sq ft, it has more than 600 retail lots and anchor tenants such as a 9-screen cinema, large aquarium with ocean discovery centre, 36-lane bowling centre and autocity. The telecommunication infrastructure will also cover its hotel and condominium.
